  1. hello, I have a question which I dont’ know whom to address to, if you can help. Here it is: I have to split a pdf file of about 1150 pages which opens with a password and the procedure does not do it, what could I try ? Thankyou

  2. Hi Federica,
unfortunately that feature is not implemented yet.. it’s in my TODO list anyway. Perhaps with the next release i’ll add some feature to add a password for protected documents but for now there’s nothing like that in pdfsam.

  3. Hi,

I’ve tried to install the basic version on my computer. However, everytime I run it, an error message appears as “window cannot find ‘javaw.exe’, please check the path …”

Can someone kindly explain what is going on?

    Many thanks,

  7. Hi,
It’s doing a great job, but one thing I do not understand: when splitting a pdf all resulting files are as big as the original, e.g. splitting a book of 32Mb with 160 pages results in 160 files of 32Mb although each file contains only one page.

  8. Hi, and thanks so much for this wonderful program.

A question: One of the great advantages of “split” is that you can take huge PDFs and make them more manageable. But the size limit makes this feature limited.

I am currently trying to split up a huge PDF of 148 MB (it is a scan of a book). But when I try to split it a “buffer” is created, and the resultant parts are files just as large as the original.

Is there any way to get around this? I am using Windows XP and don’t know anything about Java.
